Cloud computing and the enterprise

By Paula Klein | April 11, 2010

JUST MORE HYPE? Everywhere you turn, it seems that the conversation is about cloud computing. To some extent this is the latest hype, but there is also tremendous substance behind the buzz. Enterprise and public-sector CIOs need to reduce costs, improve efficiency and speed customer services, making hosted applications an increasingly viable option. At the same time, it makes perfect sense to me that there are no one-size-fits-all solutions in this model. Businesses will take different paths to the cloud — and that’s as it should be.
In addition to my blog post, this week on Smart Enterprise Exchange –our gated CIO community site with more than 2,000 global members– we feature several perspectives on Cloud Computing: a blog by author and consultant, Robin Bloor and an article describing immediate and longer-term approaches to cloud services.
Log on and register; join the Exchange, connect with peers and let me know your thoughts and experiences.
